You got it 100% right. There’s going to be an incredible revolution on many job sites. The companies that need local fleet trucks are only going to look at whether or not this truck meets minimum requirements and the total cost of ownership. They won’t give a damn that employee Billy Bob can’t tow his boat to the lake

We’re years away from long-range towing. But I don’t think it’s fair to judge a truck by what no electric vehicle can do just yet. Batteries aren’t there yet.

Range would need to be 420 miles

At 65 MPH that’s like 195 miles so I guess you can still do that?

If you need to tow that much, and you want a Ford, there are Ford trucks for that. This, I think, isn’t the truck for that.

The one you want actually want is going to be $55-60K. The $40K one is going to be for the power company guys to drive around looking at poles, in plain white, black vinyl bench seat with no air conditioning. Probably not THAT stripped, but probably not far from it.

How about 300 miles then?

I feel like I must be missing a reference you must be making; if so, insert missed-joke gif please. How far are you going in those 90 minute trips?... because 23o miles seems like enough. And 300 more than enough.

From the outside, the F-150 Lightning pretty much looks like a normal SuperCrew-cab F-150...”

This would be a badass truck for a local construction company. You wouldn’t need any insane range, but you have lots of power and room for tools.

Holy shit! This thing is WAY cheaper than I was expecting. I was guessing around $55k-$60k with that mileage. And I heard you can get the 300 mile battery on the base trim. This thing is going to sell FAST. Hopefully Ford can keep dealers from marking these up.

Meh, I drive 600 miles each way everyday, both uphill in the snow with a full truck bed. That range wont work for me........therefore all electric cars are garbage.

Goobers will say they need to haul their 69 full sheets of plywood at least 690 miles every day, in less than 6-9 hours, but I think this thing is great.  And I’m a car guy.

Being electric doesn’t make these oversized monstrosities any less wasteful than ICE.”

Agreed. There are a lot of use cases that Turo doesn’t make sense for.

We’d all be on Turo not still booking on Hertz.”

Somewhere along the way the term ‘luxury’ got confused with ‘expensive’.

Does a Model 3 count as a “luxury car”?

Actually, based on recent performance figures, the 2.7L Ecoboost F150 has consistently tested 0-60 in 5.7 seconds, the 3.5L Ecoboost on 91 octane will do 5.3 seconds.

I hope that ends up being true.  Lightning is *perfect* for the EV F-150.
