A lot of the newer vehicles use AGM batteries that don’t vent gasses; the Ford Transit(the large one) has its unvented AGM battery directly under the driver’s seat.

This is pretty common. Most Chrysler, err FCA, err Stelantis products have batteries under the front passenger seat. A lot of newer Japanese cars have them in the cabin too.

No, seriously, that’s exactly how they vent it. There’s a tube that connects to the side of the battery and runs through a grommet to outside. Pretty much all Ford hybrids from 2013 up use this setup, or at least a form of it.

Even some cars with front-located batteries have an auxiliary (+) terminal, because the battery is stuffed down into the wheel well.

“I can imagine that at least some Maverick buyers with Beetles in their past may experience a bit of physical deja vu if they ever have to give someone a jump, from the side of their car, battery cables snaking out of the door, and connecting under that back seat.”

This would make sense if you had never read Jalopnik during any other major vehicle reveal going back over a decade.

Or Ford’s other option in the midsize segment?

The amount of pissing and moaning about the Maverick’s bed length in Jalopnik comments is pretty hilarious, given the number of people who wax poetic about the Subaru Baja in Jalopnik comments. I would love to see the venn diagram!
The Sport Trac was actually a pretty good vehicle (in its time) that sold fairly well,

Yeah, i thought of the sport-trac as well but i think the world has changed since then. Not sure its an apples ot apples comparison. Basically, the Maverick is Fords econobox car replacing the fiesta/focus w/a form factor that Americans love.

The fact that you think your behavior is what we SHOULD do when a cop flips their lights on is part of the problem. I don’t blame you for it, but victim blaming this woman for doing what she’s supposed to do according to the state’s own guidance and then falling back on your own fucked-up, traumatized reaction to

You think someone deserves to get PIT’d because they wanted to find a safe spot to pull over?

That’s what gets me! So worst case scenario, she drives away and he can’t catch her, and then... the end? He has her plate, they can send her a ticket or summons in the mail.

Back at you, most interactions with the police aren’t filmed. If the ones that are filmed are this bad, what about the ones nobody sees?

Was so eager to write that ticket, he wanted her to put his life at risk by having her pull over where he'd be at risk of another driver hitting him.

Well, he literally refers to himself in the third person as “Law Enforcement”, so unfortunately this is closer to literal truth than satire

They think the world is a prison and they are the prison guards.

Just time and again the question is: What the fuck are cops thinking?!?

So this piece of shit almost killed a woman and her unborn child because she was speeding.

He was trying to pull her over at night, it’s not likely he would have known her race either way beforehand.
