You have to get past the mindset of trucks are for work only. These higher trims are really luxury cars and status symbols. While a lot of luxo truck buyers dont haul huge loads or use them as work trucks, they do, very often, tow huge loads. I mostly see them used to carry big big camper trailers, some other expensive car, or some other toys (boats?). Although the base models could tow this stuff, its nice to have a really comfy interior…

Yep. Unless you drive a car thats everything you need, nothing you dont, and at the lowest price point possible, its hard to speak with any authority against luxo trucks or sports cars. We are enthusiasts, we sometimes base our choices on something very very different from logic.

Neutral: it’s hypocritical to criticize the status symbols of subcultures you’re not a part of. I think luxury pickups are ridiculous. Luxury pickup owners think tiny sportscars with a focus on handling, not power, that can’t tow/haul or carry anything are ridiculous. We’re both right.

Theory: As the demand for luxury trucks drives the market up in price there will be a growing demand for an affordable (dare I say, smaller?) truck for us peasants.
