Yep. Last winter I lived up north and my Pro-Comp's didn't like moisture of any kind on the road, especially snow. One week I had to leave it in 4WD, and my 17 gallons of fuel disappeared in 35 miles.

My much smaller 4Runner gets less than that in 4WD :(

Not really. Long term reliability, overall quality, and resale value are HUGE factors that the Tacoma has tightly in hand. GM really fucked themselves last year with their quality, and thankfully people aren't stupid enough to dig them out.

The controller wasn't functioning properly. It would work 1 time out 10, so he just bypassed it. So as long as he knows to turn it off, it's not a big deal.

That sounds about right. His has been nothing but trouble, though I think the PO's didn't know how to maintain a diesel.

My friend currently has a 7.3 IDI, and had finally got it running right with new glow plugs and an aftermarket relay bypass, then our other friend borrowed it... He left the relay on and burnt out all 8 glow plugs.

I'm sure with a little coaxing and cutting it would.
