I sourced and funded all of the parts for the build.... I also paid for all of them. No vendor provided parts free of cost, just moderate to awesome discounts. I have a spreadsheet with several hundred part numbers I emailed to my guy at BMWofHN to order for me (Thanks Scott!), much of which came out of BMW AG’s stock.

The M54b30 weighs roughly 5lbs more than the cast iron M42 that came out. The M54b30 is also lighter than an M20b25. I made a 35lb penalty or so opting for the GS6-37BZ 6MT a number of other 5MT options, easily paid for with the overdrive 6th gear and a 3.46 locking rear end.
