Agreed. I actually “built” my own licence plate mount for my Mazda3, because I’m not too fond of the tow hook location myself. Sure looks better than having the plate in the middle of the grille as well. It’s a double-win.

My ‘91 Tercel was a beast in the snow with its 175 section winter tires. Tires that narrow just cut through the piles of snow, rather than “floating” on top of it.
