With the developer preview, I was able to run League of Legends, Skyrim, TF2 and Gotham City Imposters with no problems.

Fortunately, MS's business model means they get most of their profits from software and services. They get very little from handsets (relative to Apple's profit per handset), and so the incentive to 'force' users to upgrade hardware isn't there.

Given the performance of the medfield series demonstrated this year, I'd assume ARM for tablets won't even be too desirable by this time next year, or at least, x86 will be a viable option for those that want a no-compromise experience.
I find it interesting that you ask if it's okay to make a non-derogatory joke about a single person, but are fine with them making demeaning jokes about an entire nation which is in dire trouble.
So, basically, the two companies broke up because they could agree on why their partnership was making them so successful? *facepalm*
