I agree that it was very jarring- especially on a big page close-up like that. It made me wonder if it was intentional in that regard, similar to the way the dialogue in many 'classic' 80's movies can shock or grate upon revisiting. The last time I watched Monster Squad I had a similar experience.
I REALLY like to

Fear Street or GTFO

Tell me more about these 'hidden tracks' you speak of…must've been some sort of meta-data 'properties' trick in Windows iTunes or something, right?

Sludge Vohaul?!? I thought I killed you back on Xenon!!!

Since O'Neal hasn't popped in I will forward on the requisite Fall link in his place.
Great little streamlined 90s take on the song by Manchester's premier bumpkins The Fall:

I understand all of your points and can agree somewhat- you can hear that SST sound from a mile away! I guess I've always just accepted it as it is without questioning. (not very punk of me, ADMITTED!)
I'm just always surprised to see folks complain about Spot's aesthetic. You're right that it's not recording theory

This is one of those bands I just wasn't ready for at the time. Saw them live a few times (With Murder City Devils I think?) and liked them alright. A decade plus later Jagged Thoughts is a classic and I wish I could see them back then again!
Why don't more bands rip off the Clash? Tim Armstrong can't do it all by

I get that their are better producers, and I worship at the altar of Albini. I just feel that if it was recorded on a boombox in the practice space I would love it just the same.
Okay, wait, you got me- if we are playing fantasy recording, I do wish Albini recorded everything throughout history. Still love these

You too and my mom are the only two I've ever heard stick up for For Sale!
I love ALL of my children, but For Sale is the only one that doesn't feel like they're progressing, as great as the originals on it are. Still, it's gotta be some kinda tough being the lp between Hard Days Night and Help..

With you 100% on Hootenanny. Will always be my favorite Replacements album, and I still prefer the pre-Let It Be Mats to the post.

Why does everyone hate Spot's production so much? Were they supposed to book out Ocean Way to record Slip It In? Should they've brought Andy Wallace in to go over Milo Goes to College? This always comes up and it baffles me a bit- I'm no Spot superfan or anything, but I'm also not looking for some sort of audiophile

Noel's on AV Club writing about the Minutemen- It's like I'm back in the Popless columns that hooked me here oh so many years ago!
As great as Double Nickles is, I do reach for their earlier lps and eps the most these days. Wish I had a hundred more to listen to. Great read.

I came to them as an Enon fan, and what a revelation! If you were into Believo, it was a lot of fun going back and discovering Brainiac and Skeleton Key.
I don't think they came to California much, though I do remember seeing them open for The Melvins or Dilinger Escape Plan with Mike Patton once. At the time I'd

Pre-ordered from Bleep this morning, despite only streaming Syro. (not sure I need the or would get a lot of action from the triple lp- damn new electronic music!)
I'm really happy he's regularly releasing stuff again. Myth or man, he makes some really good jams, and it's nice to have that playfully warped sensibility

It was more tracks by the artist, but that was basically what I wanted from him. It felt like hanging out with an old friend. There were some fun and downright funky moments that made it a great listen for me, groundbreaking or not.

It really is a pretty great album. Sounds like it could have come out in 1997 or in 2013 in the best way.

Echoing your sentiments! I laugh that one of my top ten rock bands has 10-15 fans in their 30s or 40s strewn across this great nation.

Stoked on this! Love Karate and have always been happy to tune into Geoff's projects since, but a change of pace sounds really nice.
Favorite Karate album? I probably still listen to Bed is in the Ocean the most, which is a great push/pull between early and later years. They're all winners though- shame this band

I actually had a similar experience with mushrooms and 'Come Out' as my Reich introduction! Take it from us kids- phase and hallucinogens are a dangerous combination!
Always fantastic, Sean. To pile onto Mr. de Lemur's sentiment- you do remain a shining beacon to many of us salty dogs out there.

Me too! That song and Lily's Lonesome Side of You are mix staples STILL!
