Here is your solution:
Low speed really helps. In this case neither car is a tangled wreck, as it would’ve been had the hit been faster, since the Yaris got punted into a stationary tree. Had it been slower still the Yaris might not have flipped. It looks more like 25 than 15 mph to me, which would’ve been a more appropriate speed.
Most surprisingly about five seconds into the video we see a mustang leaving cars & coffee without crashing in any way. Maybe it photoshopped?
Hate to say it, but that Neon Concept looks pretty good. IIRC (was this not the car in the top-gear mother’s group-test some years ago?) the doors were quite heavy which makes a bigger difference on a smaller car. Also the 1007 didn’t have very good access to the rear seats because the car was too short for the door…
It wasn’t remotely safe to pull over let someone pass in that situation with merging traffic from the left. I’m not even sure the lead car was ‘brake checking’ rather than slowing to merge back to the left itself. But, certainly, a somewhat controlled accident like this is better than an uncontrolled rear-ending.…
We’re supposed to be making things better, not worse!
