From what I have seen the combat is meant to be active, you have a dodge button and are encouraged to move around instead of staying in one spot. Even the casters should be constantly moving around seeing as there are very few skills/spells that require you to stay still.

You can add a small heal to some of your support or damage skills. For example the warrior can be traited to heal when they use their shouts and mesmers can trait their phantasms to give regen to nearby allies.
