I'm happy the score was toned down, too. I really do love it for the big moments, which some may disagree with, but every scene doesn't need music. Many are better with silence or ambient noise.

I was mildly surprised it wasn't spelled out as "Mudder" considering Daniel's delightful pronunciation of the word.

I think we got a lot of scenes like that to both catch us up how these people are living a month or so after last season and how they behave when they are not interacting with Daniel but are clearly impacted by his wake. Daniel's release weakened a lot of fractures that already existed in these characters'

As I stated elsewhere, I think the score is a little too present in some scenes that would do better with silence but I really liked the music during Daniel's talk with Avery. I read complaints like yours so I assumed I just overlooked the music while I was captivated by Aden Young's acting. I've watched that scene

If you're referring to the man Tawney was taking care of then no. The Senator seems to have enough money to afford in-home care.

I sometimes feel Rectify is having fun by subverting the expectations in scenes like this (or the scene last week where Daniel's housemates all entered his room) because, in any other show, something bad would have happened. During these scenes I have to tune my brain from "what's likely to happen in a TV show?" to

It was from 30 Rock when Tracy Jordan and Toofer first meet (and Tracy corrects Toofer's grammar).

Yeah, I haven't had issues with the scoring for the big, dramatic scenes but there's a lot of minor scenes with distracting music that would have been better with something more subtle (or even just no score at all). Last week there was a lot of twangy southwestern guitar and this week there was some goofy music

Not for the premiere. I don't have Sundance and I just watched it.

It's streaming for free now on Sundance.tv if you still haven't seen it.

That's interesting but I'm pretty happy with what we got. At least, I believe that removing Kerwin from the show entirely after the flashback to his execution (aside from the dream reunion at the pecan grove) really helped sell the impact of Daniel's loss as the audience also lost him. Considering the prison side of

The fact that a friendship that was portrayed through seven episodes and, perhaps at best, 40-50 minutes of screen time resonates so powerfully with Rectify's audience is a testament to the show's quality.

Sundance TV is on Sling and PS Vue if you have access to either.

Yeah, this episode stressed me out making me think that his boss or his co-workers or his housemates were going to betray him in some way. I suppose those scenes were to underscore the alienation Daniel feels and, like Tyrus talked about in group, he can't interpret some of these social cues.

I didn't really find an issue with the score during that scene but I was thinking the music could have been a bit more subdued in other scenes this episode. Of course, I think that's an issue some may have with Rectify in general. If you're not all in the constant piano and strings may come off as maudlin but,

I believe there's a few instances of small time jumps here and there but, for the most part, things move pretty slowly in Rectify. If I recall, Daniel mentions to Kerwin in his dream in season 2, episode 1 that he was out for about a week before he was put into a coma so that matches with season 1's episode a day.

I agree. The show is fairly grounded in reality but certain scenes, like the dream sequences or the goat man in the pecan grove, feel very ethereal. It does a lot of things that are common in literature that aren't seen often in television. For instance, Daniel and Tawney's (shared?) dream in the season 3 finale felt

Well, you're in luck because the final season is actually 8 episodes. I feel somewhat the same way you do about the length of the show (and I agree it's the best show on television currently running, top 2 or 3 of all time) but the short length of the series is a strength. I'd be happier if maybe the average season

Yeah, that's exactly it. Although I do think Google has has taken care of the "feet" autocomplete as well.

Their modus operandi is always that in whatever way Trump is terrible, Clinton and her husband are secretly worse and that you're a sheep if you don't realize this.
