Mario games are never take advantage of the hardware, that's what Zelda games do. every Zelda takes advantage of Nintendo's hardware, from the ability to write onto the cartridge to the use motion plus. Mario games are about pure platforming.

you said exactly how i feel about twilight princess. good game but outside of Midna nothing really stands out. you know what was a mature game Zelda game people wanted,Majora's Mask. classic, kinda hard, dark and mature, and probably the best Zelda game ever.

i look at the surface worlds as dungeons. you get there solve puzzles to open up the environment and get an item to help you progress.

people are going to complain about Nintendo either way. it's one of the sacred internet rules

but even with ac it's a hit or a miss on whether the game is good. i just don't think it's a good model for nintendo. they should focus on developing the varieties of their franchises then try to do one every year.
