I liked the movie, but to be fair, that’s still the expectation, no?

More or less agree.

Agree on Killmonger. I get why people like him but he always seemed a generic bully to me. He has reasonable motivations but how he acts on them are absurd in the extreme.

I liked this movie well enough, but I don’t know I agree with your premice. The movie does struggle under the weight of so many characters and would be better with a thinner cast. Just because I liked it (and I did—it was fun) and it was cool to see everyone doesn’t mean Marvel was in any way obligated to have so many

I don’t know man...I had more of a hard time with Killmonger than Thanos.

To be fair, some CGI was used where practical effects would have looked better and been just as effective. Female henchman’s face comes to mind. And the Wakanda battle, while interesting in concept, was cut so erraticly against cut-and-paste enemies that it lacked some of the weight of a closer, more personal conflict

I think I’m the only person that wasn’t all that impressed with Killmonger. Some of his monologues worked well and he has a very understandable viewpoint, but his plan and actions make him come off as a childish bully lashing out. That may just be that revenge plots generally don’t tend to work for me but I buy Thanos

Yeah—you’re not wrong. But Thanos needed every minute he had. And with the Infinity Stone plot line you kind of need all the players because the stones are so scattered across the different movies. As is we still didn’t see him get the power stone.

While I agree that Thanos is the main character, I think Tony and (to a lesser extent) Thor are both given a good amount to do and an emotional arc of their own.

Agreed.

I mean...kinda.

You’re not wrong—but if we’re being realistic bodycams are going to help grow some of those judgments when police are proven to be in the wrong. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, mind, but it is a financial disincentive to invest in them.

I would say that all requests for bodycam footage—whoever’s side it supports—should be treated the same. I will agree there.

To be fair—greater transparency will be great. But the level of tranparency here is actually a civil liberties and privacy nightmare. How the police department is justifying releasing that footage to these people without the authorization of the other people recorded is boggling my mind.

There are civil liberties problems with that, though.

They are almost always only enforced in extreme cases because they don’t want to disincentivize people reporting potential crimes to the police.

Don’t know that I would go that far. I might go question someone I didn’t recognize looking in windows or over fences in my neighbors property. The problem clearly comes in when he presented ID and the situation continued.

They are allowed to forceably stop recording in some states, though not most.

To be fair, a lot of cops DO want bodycams. But the only way it’s gonna happen is if you get the federal government to pay for it (at least in large police departments).
