Its sort of cute how much Ignatiy fangirls over James Grey. I completely disagree with him, but I always love seeing that kind of passion.

Paul. Thomas. Anderson.
But just because there are unresolved plot lines doesn’t mean that the story needs to be continued. It certainly doesn’t mean that Blade Runner 2049 can’t function on its own, and I don’t even think it’s a given that it was intended to spawn some type of cinematic universe. All that matters was that K’s story got…
That doesn’t really make sense to me. I think nominating it in the drama category would have given it even less of a chance, not more. I highly doubt it would have beat out Three Billboards or The Shape of Water. And its not like Get Out’s placement is anything new, the Best Comedy category has routinely been pretty…
I only know this guy from Somewhere and he was wonderful in that. True Detective really shit the bed in season 2 though so my interest has significantly faded.
Oh. That makes sense. I forgot that you were in charge of what is and isn’t objectively good music. Case closed then. You don’t need to present reasons, you’re the objective arbitor of truth, so what you say goes, oh wise God. I wish Lou Reed had known your decree so he wouldn’t have wasted any time writing his…
I fucking love Yeezus. It has endless replay value for me. I can literally listen to it every day and not get bored. So no. It’s not objectively awful. Its beautiful. Kanye’s best album.
It was absolutely interesting. And really funny, and dramatically gratifying, with great characters.
This is stunningly accurate. I feel a similar way about Parks and Rec that I do with The Good Place, so I guess Michael Shur just isn’t for me. Everything just seems so... Fake. Unearned emotion. The Good Place wants it both ways: It wants to trick you with a twist that our heroes are in hell, but also, everyone sort…
He’s not like that on Flower Boy though. Its easily his most mature album to date.
Who does Tyler the Creator gotta blow around here? Also, Fleet Foxes: Crack-Up. King Krule: The Ooze.
There’s no way last weeks episode was better than this weeks. No way. Not even close. It was strange. I remembered what it was like to actually laugh at an SNL skit. Franco sold the hell out of the Za and Spelling Bee sketch. “Little Pig Boy” is the funniest thing they’ve done in ages. Gretchen sketch was good too.
I’ve never had a more transcendent theatre experience than the first time I watched The Master. I was in Heaven. I have yet to be disappointed by Paul Thomas Anderson. I’m in love with his work. I can not wait to watch this fucking film.
Nope. Have you listened to it? Its a lot more cinematic and mature than her older work. Surprisingly great pop album. Much better than Lorde or St. Vincent’s projects this year.
I guess I’m not clicking with the picks this year. I found the #1 and #2 choices entirely overrated. I don’t see how Damn. is even in the same league as TPAB or GKMC. Musically, it just can’t compete and strikes me as rather generic and forgettable outside of the stellar Humble. (Yes, even DNA. So what, its a lot of…
Crack-Up is damn beautiful and easily one of the best albums this year. It is not often that I have such a complete turnaround from first listen to last. But this is a subtle album, it takes time for the melodies to seep through. But eventually I found a textured, haunting journey, all the richer for it’s minimalist…
I thought this was a train-wreck. And Saoirse Ronan could have killed if she had decent material.
The hype is real. The Master was practically a religious experience for me and I have yet to be disappointed with a Paul Thomas Anderson film.
Your surprise is strange to me because this site has been like this since as long as I can remember, haha. But I understand your frustration.
