Exactly, the main elements that drew me to the show were the actors, the direction, the scenery and the sense of otherworldly darkness. With all of them gone it could still be great but I don't see how it will feel like True Detective 2 rather than just another cop show by the guy who wrote True Detective.

I liked it too and I don't feel bad at all. It helps I went into it expecting it to be pretty bad so it pretty much won me over by being not as bad as I heard it would be.
