And anyone who’s ever tuned a PID controller would know that the highest force condition will result in the most lag. If the gain was cranked up high enough to have no lag sitting still it, the system would probably be unstable at speed. They maybe could have solved this with a more powerful actuator, but that’s a lot

Lots of cars have variable ratio steering. Speed sensitive as well.

You can go lock-to-lock in a Cybertruck much faster than a conventional vehicle, which would make the lagginess even worse

Isn’t the ratio greatly quickened when stopped like this? So, at higher speed, the driver would likely have to turn the steering wheel even further, which would reduce the lag.

Of all the things to complain about, this is pretty much a non-issue. Steering effort is always highest at a stop since the tires are 100% scrubbing. It’s not a good way to see the response from any system. Even a slight roll would probably make it much less noticeable

Tesla 3 Performance is only $48.5k with the new refresh and tax credit (which Polestar 2 doesn’t qualify for). And that’s with the Tesla 0-60 in the 2's and the Polestar’s 0-60 in the 4's, and the Tesla with ~50 more miles of range, with standardized NACS charging which the Polestar also still doesn’t have yet.

It is a compelling alternative if price isn’t a factor. A $69,000 Volvo or a Tesla 3 Performance for $54k.

It’s not laziness, it’s a knowledge of exactly how much it’s going to cost to fix vs how much that depreciated car is actually worth. They do not factor in sentimental value or anything other than, your 2o20 Tesla is worth exactly X and it’s sustained Y damage. We are totaling it because Y is greater than X. It costs

Why do you think you should get a settlement worth the cost of a brand new car on a wrecked 19 year old car?

look at a major port like Singapore, you’ll see shitloads of ships that can sit for days or weeks till they get a slot to unload.

They aren’t meant to sail slower than necessary, they’re meant to sail at the precise speed which allows them to arrive when it is time to dock - instead of burning extra fuel to get there 10 hours early and then wait. Read it again.

While this is true, what is your point in relation to the article? Are you in favor of the unfettered capitalism (free trade) that would give us cheap Chinese cars. Or are you in favor of the tariffs (government intervention in industry is largely viewed as anti-capitalist) which would protect American workers from

and will not allow Western automakers to avoid restructuring to meet the challenge from lower cost Chinese manufacturers.

The other advantages China has are...

I believe any place where there is a helmet law, if a motorcyclist gets into an accident and suffers injuries they should automatically lose their insurance coverage and have to pay out of pocket. And if they die, they forfeit any death benefits of life insurance benefits (as if they would be paying for life

American’s conflate stupid choices with masculinity and safety being anti-masculine. One suggestion would be no healthcare, no state covered medical expenses help. If you are injured while motorcycling without a helmet, you cover all your medical costs out of pocket not the tax payers or others on your health

Fair point, but also it ALREADY tried to drive into an oncoming train TWICE. Like how freaking stupid are you to at the very least, be paying attention at train crossings. And I am glad no attorney would take his case, he got in this accident because he is a moron.

Yeah I mean I hate to agree with Tesla, but the driver was paying NO attention at all, if there are interior cameras I would 100% bet their head was buried in their phone. I wouldn’t trust FSD on a good day, but less a quite foggy one like in the video.

Impressive. Both in “FSD”’s inability to see the crossing with a train in it AND the driver’s failure to take control in a timely manner as explicitly required by “FSD”. Two wrongs making a much bigger wrong.

At what point does the driver accept responsibility here? I feel it is somewhere before it barrels into the side of a train, a ways before that. Still, at least it is trashed. Now don’t repair it, replace it with a regular car instead.
