Of course you can try before you buy in WP7. Its not mandatory, but devs can offer their apps on limited feature basis trial that you can upgrade when you're ready to pay. Its one of the sweet things about WP7 apps, not unique to them but heavily encouraged by MS.

I really don't get why people see Rez as a drug addled person's game when all I've seen so fare is a well put together Trance music game. It keeps a good beat and all the elements of game play work beautify together to make a fine rhythm.
