on the contrary, someone leaving early screws the other team now. I’ve had matches where my team on offense captures point A on a sprint, someone on defense bails, and the match is outright cancelled.

Yeah they’ve perpetually had the wrong mentality about how to fix the ranking system. First their thinking was “oh people dont like seeing the progress bars go up and down, so we’ll change the scale, but leave everything else alone” and now it’s “People started too high, that’s why they keep dropping”.
