Counterpoint:  the WRX is awesome and has always been awesome.

I’m going to go ahead and say the Mustang, not because it isn’t a joy to drive, but because it has a catfish’s mug and a Fisher Price interior that hasn’t changed in 15 years. It’s getting old.

The Wrangler. I understand that it’s a purpose-built vehicle. I get that. But it seems like 95% of the people who drive these things don’t do any real off-roading, which is the vehicles purpose. On road, they’re terribly unrefined, uncomfortable, impractical, and loud. Have you ever tried to road trip in a Wrangler

The 3rd generation Prius looked pretty good in certain trim levels (upper trims with the larger wheels). Then they ruined it with this one.

In what way does this sound like a Lamborghini V10?

I too love the blue interior.

Could be worse.  Could be a Wrangler.

The Forester and Crosstrek with the 2.5 both get to 60 in around 8 seconds.  That’s a perfectly acceptable number and in-line with the segment.

Since everyone is going to say BRZ and Miata, I’d like to suggest something a little more inconspicuous - the first generation Mazda6. This was a car with a gutless 4-cylinder engine but a spectacularly fun chassis and near-perfect steering, especially for something billed as a family car. It was so much fun to drive.

Can you buy anything used for under $5k right now?

Subaru sold 2,000 Legacys (Legacies?) in June, which is a decent number.  I see them around here in Denver; I think there’s a very specific market that wants an AWD sedan.  Denver is one of them.

Maybe the issue is that new cars are impossible to find right now??? Did anyone consider that

Won’t say how but I know for a fact that the STI will have over 385hp. The WRX will have around 300, give or take a few HP.  The BRZ was never supposed to be a powerful car.

I think the trash bin idea would do more harm than good. A trash receptacle under the car, baking in the hot sun?  No thanks.

I work in management at a Subaru dealership in Denver. We’ve had forty-ish vehicles arrive over the last two weeks (a truck here, a truck there), and 95% of them were sold deposit vehicles. That left us with around 5 cars to actually sell, and those sold as well. We’ve had no more than 20 cars on the lot at any given

Having driven a 2004 Mazda6 4-cylinder for 8 years, I can attest to this - although I’m 99% sure it was a 2.3. The engine itself was fine.  Smooth and peppy. BUT, absolutely zero torque below 3500RPM - 95% of all acceleration happened between that and redline. It was sporty up there, but loud. A great car for a

This car is very, very ugly.

The Crosstrek sells because it’s a right-sized blend of value, capability, and cool-ness that Subaru has dialed in to a T. Very few car companies know their customers better than Subaru. It’s also a pretty neat looking little car, and you can get it in fun colors. It’s youthful.

The Camry was my first thought as well. Just the fact that it makes over 300hp now is....crazy.

2007 - I was a junior in high school and I remember reading Motor Trend’s Car of the Year article about the new Camry and being astounded that they tested it 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. From a Camry. My parents had a 1999 Camry, numerous friends had a Camry, EVERYBODY knew the Camry. Maybe that made it all the more shocking
