There is ALWAYS an excuse. “If this car was $10k cheaper!” “If it had option X or more power!” “It weighs too much!”

Jalopnik commenters: “If automakers would just offer more manuals, they’d see that people are willing to buy these cars!”

“We knew the take rate for the manuals, even with the other performance upgrades that come in the 2.0T Sport (manual) package, wouldn’t be that great, but we wanted to be able to offer it to show how much we appreciate the enthusiasts in the market that prefer manuals,”

I’m not trying to detract from the legacy or anything... but why buy a Supra Turbo for $50k+ when you could just buy/import an Aristo or a turbo 2Jz variant engine for much less?

We do embargoes on press drives and always have. It’s other kinds of pre-release embargoes we generally don’t, like the stuff released before auto shows and such.

It’s just an ad...and to me, ads are basically meaningless, quotes are what matters most. If you like that car have them send you numbers. I would much rather have a dealer put the MSRP in the ad than play games with rebates, discounts etc...and jerk someone around.

I sell large portions of my life to capitalists in exchange for fiat currency.

Maybe I’m not a true Jalop, but I think it is the little things I do that allow me to get money for cars, or in my case, usually bikes.

And sometimes dealerships are honest.

I disagree on both fronts. The main reason people buy Lexus and Toyota is the bulletproof reliability. The main reason people buy Tesla’s is because of the torque of an electric vehicle, future-proof technology and its a status symbol. The main reason people buy BMW, MB, Audi is luxury car and status symbol.

Not sure about Toyota, but BMW NA and MB USA forbid their dealers from advertising that way (via not paying the ad subsidies), and any rebates they ever do (which happen more than you know) are strictly to the dealer. If you can find the information, you can save a ton on a car. When the last Z4 M’s were at dealers 11

The CarMax model is great... for CarMax.

IMHO, not getting hosed by the dealearship is one of the main reasons people buy so many Luxus’ and Toyotas.

Paying over $600 a month for a Hyundai Santa Fe is madness. Just in my opinion.

I demand a new Jalopnik video series of every Jalopnik contributor sharing with us seven interesting things about themselves. And no cheating, like the fact that the is a church in north Georgia called The Torch--that just happens to have the same nickname as Jason. Or does it?

Chain them together like a dogsled, have them pull you in in a chariot!

You can buy roughly 15 Corollas for the price of the Ferrari, that'd be roughly 2500hp combined, only a fool would choose the pathetic Ferrari

They get tired of them because they treat them like trash.

Hilariously the Corolla is the only one with a 3rd pedal.

That is most people on the internet, unfortunately.
