If the question is "Who are you?" I tend to go with John Teti, but that's just me, literally.

Good call.
David says what he says to Rico to make Rico stop acting like a child. He's not acting like it's a mind-blowing insight; quite the opposite. He's saying that this is something Rico should be aware of, both as a human being and as a "professional" in this line of work. The implicit message is that Rico's a jackass for…
I don't think Phil is at all aware that he will someday be 45.
Great breakdown of that scene. And you're right that David and Keith are going to resent it. "Oh, we fight on occasion" is just one of those default things that you agree upon with fellow couples. It's like Keith and Nate's idle chat about the secret to good barbecue—the substance isn't as important as the fact that…
This game show thing is a cool idea. I'd love to do something like this sometime. Also thanks to @avclub-095543c425d38265455b460a8b71ee8f:disqus for linking to my Dick Clark tribute. Very nice of you.
Thank you!
I am pretty bummed that it was canceled. I thought it was one of Bravo's better shows—a good mix of stupidity, misguided intentions, and thought-provoking earnestness. The personalities of the judges were amusingly weird.
I'm psyched that you'd like to comment over on Gameological. So (deep breath) here's the deal with Disqus. The A.V. Club uses what's called a "single sign-on" implementation of Disqus, which basically means that your AVC login only works for The A.V. Club. That allows AVC to have more control so that, for instance,…
Yup, I will still be doing Six Feet Under, thank you for asking. Part of the reason I can't do Project Runway anymore is that the schedule was rough—I had to watch the show live, and I took a fairly long time to write up the review. So I wouldn't get to bed until like 5:30 a.m., and I'd be toast the following day.…
Thank you for reading it! It was probably the most fun writing assignment I ever took on, and the kindness of the readers gave me confidence to try other things. I'm awfully grateful for that.
I'm not sure who's doing All Stars, but it won't be me. Although this abysmal episode really tested my loyalty, I still am a fan of Project Runway proper. Tim is the gold-standard mentor, Heidi is amazingly talented, Nina and Kors are generally a great judging panel (if erratic—but even that is part of the charm), and…

Thank you very much for saying so. It's really gratifying to hear that. You and the other loyal commenters have made a big difference in my life. I think folks might underestimate what an impact it can make for a writer when people who dig your stuff take the time to say "this is cool," and when the writing inspires…

Very interesting to hear from somebody who's new to the show. In my opinion, yes, the reason you started cracking wise is that there is no small degree of farce consciously built into the show's production and editing, which operates alongside (and complements) a heartfelt exploration of a creative process.

It really does. I looked up the clip for comedy value, but as I watched it, I thought, "Jeez, I forgot how impressive this still looks."

I never make mistakes like that when I'm editing Gameological, unless you count the zillion times each week that I do.
