Good points, Blaffair. Bert has definitely been through some shit, which I sympathize with, and PR contestants can be cliquish. I do think there's a point at which there's so much smoke you have to assume there's some fire there, and there has been a lot of smoke indicating that Bert is really unpleasant to be around.

I agree. I thought the race was unfair for this reason, too.

I should clarify: My buddy was initially terrified to be in Jeremy Sisto's presence, but over the course of the evening he found Sisto to be delightful, perfectly affable company.

Season 4 features my least favorite storyline of the entire series (the exasperatingly boring Rico storyline), but I never became uninterested in the show. There was still plenty to keep me engaged, because it is fundamentally a quality program. There are also some landmark moments in the fourth season, including the

You guys are very kind. I'm glad you're enjoying the reviews! I don't think plowing right on through is in the cards, for two reasons. The first is that TV Club Classic is pretty much a summer affair. The second is that I'm working on some other pretty big projects and could use these few hours every week. However, I

The next episode (the Season 1 finale) will be my last for the summer, and then I'll be back next summer to do the next season.

Here's the "Everyone's Waiting" thread, for talk of future events that will affect you in the future and whatnot. I wasn't sure how to post it early while the site was transitioning to the new comment system, so apologies for its tardiness. I'll get it figured out for next week, though.

I agree. Both the card-tossing moment and Ruth's frenzied flower-arranging felt a little trite to me. Or at least overly familiar.

Viktor is definitely an awful child — that outburst during team selection was incredibly disrespectful and, as DN notes, inexcusable. And Bert is getting a brutal edit. But I'd have more sympathy for Bert if he put his superior knowledge toward making superior outfits. By his own admission, he phoned it in last week,

Haha, no, it is not too early for this. This is awesome.

I generally don't account for what's going to happen in future episodes, Affrosponge, so I think you could say I'm viewing the episode through a Season 1 lens, yeah.

Sorry about that. It's been fixed.

Hey, A Fan — Once I'm finished with the first season, I'll be done for the summer. That said, I don't see any reason that I wouldn't continue next year with Season 2. No guarantees, but that's likely the way it will unfold. I'm glad you're enjoying the reviews.

Thanks for saying so, you two. It's especially gratifying to hear that it makes you more interested in the series.

I fixed this, but I almost wanted to leave it because you did make me laugh.

Haha — on the other hand, she might be willing to coast on that executive-producer credit.

Just summer doldrums, Spacemonkey. The Catherine review will run next week, as we usually run reviews the Monday after release. We received an advance copy like everyone else; it's just that Atlus lifted the embargo extra-early, which is why you started seeing reviews so far before release. (Atlus often lifts

Maybe some people are doing that math, but I think that the first few seconds of an episode are taken up with "Who's going to die, and how?" So when you see the image of some guys horsing around in an army tent, it could feel pretty ominous.

That didn't even occur to me on rewatching, but you're totally right. There's even young Victor's line about Saddam's missiles. It's a great misdirection, and the "reveal" of older Victor watching on the TV is so subtle and nicely done.

Good point, Myles. Pocket Academy (which I didn't review) is similar to Tiny Tower (which I did) for me in that there are those moments where you realize, "All I am doing is watch numbers go up," but yes, there also those "bits of personality" that give it some staying power. The art in Tiny Tower is really cute. The
