You make good points. One supposed new trend though is agents starting to tell young players to wait out taking the early long term/big money contract that ends up being under valued later in the deal (Like Evan Longoria’s current deal). Scott Boras I believe always advises his clients not to take the early “big” offer

Most baseball people predict the NL will eventually go to the DH. The union isn’t giving up an already created roster spot especially when that spot is now usually used for aging veterans, many who tend to carry bigger salaries.

The funniest part about the first one is he hits the circus shot, but is more upset he didn’t get the foul call (which was not a foul)

How are the St. Louis Cardinals not running away with this. Don’t they have the worst everything when it comes to fans?

I’m not so sure. I think the last few years has proven St. Louis fills that blank in better than Pittsburgh:

None of this comes up (at least for some time) if these Daily Fantasy Sites had clauses in their employees contracts that they couldn’t play Daily Fantasy. (Their own site or competitors.) Regardless if there was actual insider info use or not the allusion of it is what’s brought all this on.

How can you have an NBA Jam type clip of missed shots and not have recorded “Wild Shot!” as the game actually had? When the announcer in the actual game said that you knew you were terrible at so many things: basketball...video games...life

Yes, in hindsight, preferably you’d want Flores to field that ball, but it seems to be one of those things in baseball that if the 3rd baseman can get to it, it’s his. This is because on those plays the 3B is moving towards first where if a shortstop has to move he’s going away from first. I’ve seen 3Bs cut across and

This Royals team in a number of ways reminds me of the dominant 1998 Yankees. No huge home run numbers on either team (no guy on either team hit 30 HRs on the season,) both teams had guys who hit to all fields instead of just looking to pull, both teams had a few guys who would swipe a bag, both teams were adept at

The rest of the team (save Chris Young) didn’t know either. Many of the coaches may not have known. If they had reported it even while Volquez was pitching, a bench player, coach, or trainer who didn’t yet know may have heard and started talking about it in the dugout and THAT could have reached Volquez too. Social

Volquez pitched a perfect first, and gave up three runs through three six innings.

Again, I think it’s probable something could have or should have gotten to Pitino, but I think it’s naive to blindly say “X knew” in these situations

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but you’ll be surprised what you can hide/get away with. I’m sure there are people on this thread who got away with stuff in their parents’ houses with their significant others in high school and no one ever found out. If it’s not asked about, and if you think someone in an authority

My guess for only stopping this at the 500 level is not because of the type of fan who sits in the upper sections vs lower sections or even about beer cans littering the field, but because of the baby getting hit with beer incident. I’m assuming the lower levels jut out more than the upper levels like most stadiums so

Baseball has been my favorite sport my whole life. I loved this bat flip and I love all bat flips and think it’s ridiculous when a pitcher whines about it. Don’t want to get bat flipped on? Throw better pitches.

As soon as I saw the picture of the Mariners before clicking on this post I knew Barry and I had last cried at the same thing. I think I’m older than Barry though because I was 15 at the time and I cried for 2 days. (Yeah I was a loser)

“The worst feeling in the world is not being there for someone you care about or someone who needs you” - Greg Hardy...about his teammates...not his ex who he beat up.

Preferably I’d like best of 3 as well because it’s a better representation for the regular season and gives both WC teams more of a chance, but if I remember correctly MLB went with 1 game based partially off the recommendation of the committee Bud Selig put together to look at different issues around the game.

There is an old musical play called “Damn Yankees” that tells the story of a man who sells his soul to the devil to become an amazing baseball player to lead the prolifically horrible old Washington Senators the World Series...

I almost completely agree with this article. I’m a lifelong Yankee fan and expected to lose this one. Honestly, we were lucky to hold on to a WC spot the way we were playing the last 2 months. Overall though the season was a success considering expectations, injuries, and the like and with the promise some of the
