Even at a private school the students don’t own the school - they are paying customers of the school and they are free to take their business elsewhere if they don’t like what the school is doing. They don’t have a right to shut down a school activity that the school permitted and other students wanted to participate…

The aspect of freedom of speech that is most relevant here is that you as a private citizen cannot prevent someone else from exercising their freedom of speech or assembly by, for example, blocking doors to prevent entrance to an event or disrupting said event.

Yeah that might work if you took the blanket directly off of the smallpox patient and rubbed it in your eyes. It’s pretty unlikely to catch it from dried bodily fluids on a blanket weeks later.
