We are looking for war and a way to blame them for starting it.”

Yeah no, we didn’t start this war, Russia 100% did and has attempted to extort the EU from helping Ukraine thru weaponizing the energy market. This would par for the course for them by trying to cripple the supply line and bring the EU to its knees. The

That makes no sense. This is either trolling or extremely ignorance.

Where’s the “trying to force” part of this?

Ehh.  Every bit of technology is bad until it is good.  I’d say this is the testing process working as it is supposed to.  Looking forward to seeing the update on this next year.

And the horrendous impact of rare-earth materials mining for battery production, not to mention the downstream costs. We need a major breakthrough in renewable materials for electricity storage. Ceramics, silicates, something other than lithium, cadmium, platinum, etc.

I agree.  Sub 20 minutes is already pretty good.

If they can get that recharge time down to sub 10-minutes to get to that same 75-80%, I could see a lot more adoption as long as there is the infrastructure in place.

If they hope to have any sort of massive metaverse userbase, they need to stop focusing on photorealism and reality-based avatars. I could not care less that they have legs n0w. Let me know when I can make my avatar Slimer (aka Onionhead) with Garfield’s face and Matt Berry’s voice; or a 10 foot tall sentient box of

But we need a good robot with a gun to stop a bad robot with a gun.

That was my thought too. There’s always a cut between landing and it getting up, and the lighting looks different too. Any robot capable of firing any kind of useful gun steadily is going to have to be pretty heavy.

Given China’s reputation for stealing innovations calling the robots “copies” seems generous.

I’d be highly skeptical of the editing in that video. The cut from landing to robot starting up could easily mean that they landed a lighter unpowered version, then cut to the fully-powered version standing. These robots are essentially copies of Boston Dynamics’ machines, and those are HEAVY. It’s difficult to

Time to invent EMP grenades.

In fairness, the app is salvageable, they just need to re-brand to something along the lines of Dowry Date and match these men with the girl’s father like in the bible.

I’m very unclear on why you’re referring to these as “middle of the stack”. Middle of what stack? These are on the upper end of the consumer class CPUs in the 7000 series. Wouldn’t the middle be the 5 series?

They can barely figure out how to properly update software without there being a constant conflict with Windows Update but sure keep on pumping out newer chips.

I’m fairly sure Windows 3.x File Manager had a split view mode - either that or I had some shareware version that did.

Back in the before times (DOS days), I was the author of a file manager that had directory trees, multiple panes, etc. all via the magic of ASCII. Oh, those were the days...

If there’s one constant in all of Stallone films it’s that decent ideas are utterly wasted in movies that are either to incompetent or lazy to see them through and the only purpose the movie serves is to serve Stallone as “the star.” I’m thinking most how Demolition Man starts so strong but just loses its way to

“You could have 100 women write down 10 things they are looking for from their ideal partner, compile that data and create a list of 10 or 12 things that women are looking for, become the ideal embodiment of those things, make it your life’s work to make sure that you have those 10 or 12 characteristics, and you

The beauty of StageCraft though is that a lot of what the audience sees is what the actor is seeing. So it’s reducing the need for green screen and making it that much more immersive for everyone, even if they still need tennis balls on sticks from time to time. There were plenty of times during The Mandalorian where

I like the StageCraft thing and just generally hate the whole “CGI bad: Real Effects good” thing, but it would be nice to see some creativity in effects with the above limitations.  Creative shooting to make a couple guys seem like a lot more, etc.
