How is tipping out of control when it’s your choice?

The pay that uber drivers recieve are not that good. Lets say a driver earns 8 bucks an hour working an 8 hr shift. He spent most of his day driving using his car, and his gas and then the company takes their fees, what are you left with then. Tips should be encouraged.
