I think being in the NFC North kind of hurts their case though. Sure they’re a turd but they’re in a bowl full of turds with a chance of floating up to the top in some years.

This is precisely why Eisenhower warned us about the Notary-Industrial Complex.
But with a brim that wide how will he be able to kiss his son on the mouth?
I refuse to believe Sidney Crosby is cool enough to do drugs.
If the NHL was serious about testing for Cocaine, I’d probably be on a PTO right now.
“Only 4 years?”
The only good Braves hat:
I typically don’t like hats where the brim is a different colour than the cap but I agree that the A’s are an exception.
Pro-Tip: If you want to increase traffic, don’t call it an Oakland Athletics blog. Say it’s a very early blog about the 2022 Yankees.
I think that’s mainly true I just think it’s weird that for the most part so much of our “Italian” food is pretty standard for any North American city(especially at Pizza places) except for this one difference.
The Nylander situation didn’t last long because the Leafs didn’t have “wiggle room”. If the Leafs had a ton more cap space, it’s not like they would have just given Nylander whatever he wanted. They were trying to get him signed to a deal that reflected his contributions and, ultimately, I think they did.
So, just to be clear, the things that the Islanders can’t possibly compete with when it comes to free agents are:
This is where my understanding of the cap gets a little wonky. I thought that the cap hit was always years/total value but, say, in a situation like Nylander’s they could pay more upfront so that despite missing time he’d still get paid that AAV for the year.
I’ll be sure to tell John Tavares that.
I don’t know if it’s just that we got a lot of Italians from the right region in Toronto but the idea of a Panzerotto being in any way less famous than a calzone or somehow less well known is weird. They’re everywhere up here. Just about any pizza place does one. There was even a chain up here called Panzerotto Pizza.
Which, incidentally, is why I’m pretty confident that the Marner contract is a non-issue. There’s no way Dubas would have traded for Clarkson’s contract if there was a real concern about eventually getting Marner under contract.
I think maybe people need to chill out just a bit on this one. Marner’s not going to sign an offer sheet, he’s not going to play in Europe, he’s not going to sit out the year. He’s trying to get the best deal for himself and his agent, who always tries the same nonsense, is making a big noise in the media but it’s not…
If Lamoriello offered Marner 12 million a year he’d quickly re-learn what he just learned with Panarin. Offer the most money or not, you still need a player to actually want to be an Islander.
If they’re trying to have a European style Soccer fanbase then, yeah, you’ll get some Nazis.
I agree that it’s a depressing commentary but it’s also an entirely accurate one to say that the current schism over things like racism, fascism and gun violence isn’t some sort of fringe disagreement with the vast majority of the public on one side or the other.
