Yyeah but how many of those might have been in minor league ballparks without any netting or medical staff or prior to modern medical care in general? I am of the 1 death or serious injury is too many school but there’s nothing served by presenting this as an epidemic when it isnt.

I see where he’s coming from. For a guy whose day to day in the white house involved being ok with the deaths of thousands of innocent people on a frequent basis an oasis of sport like the Olympics, which has only occasionally featured the deaths of innocent people, must seem like a welcome reprieve.

You get that those infants don’t actually buy the tickets, right?

Foul balls can still go over netting and there are still risks, albeit minor ones, to tiny kids being anywhere in the park.

I appreciate that nuance is always the enemy in this conversation but:

Even if kowtowing to their dumb laws means you’re violating state law?

So if those consequences take the form of any actual punishment, don’t the California schools just sue the NCAA?

Problem is that Bettman is presiding over a league that still has struggling and even failing teams. So long as everyone in MLB is content to just cash their revenue sharing checks it’s going to be hard to paint him as a failure.

Or Panarin. I’d figure they were ok down the middle between Johansen and Turris.

At first glance it doesn’t seem to make sense for Nashville to get such a small return(not even a first?) but some of the advanced analytics guys were really down on Subban’s year. On the wrong side of 30 and being a smaller defenseman it’s not a sure thing that he rebounds to his old form.

I actually sort of think there’s a truth to this. I grew up in a two parent household and I think it played a major role in why I am who I am.

Well done Blackhawks. If there’s one thing I associate Patrick Kane and Women with it’s “supporting their sporting endeavours”.

Wikipedia has the metro Montreal population at 4 million and the Tampa area at just over three.

See, I don’t think for a second this would happen without a new stadium in Montreal. That’s one of the reasons the idea as a whole is so far fetched.

I’m pretty sure the proposed Montreal stadium isn’t a dome.

Also somewhat worth mentioning that Montreal is a much bigger city with, I would guess, more corporate money floating around. It didn’t save them before but that was in one of the worst stadiums ever built. In a nice park I think there’s every reason to think they can at least be successful to the point of not being

So the idea is you don’t need a domed stadium in Tampa but they’ll potentially be playing their November games in Montreal? That should work out perfectly.

I think this is ridiculous. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is an incredible honor no matter who’s giving it to you and for West to decline would be ridiculous. Besides, how do you know he doesn’t support Trump? If he does, then turning down the medal just to appease Liberal sportswriters would be ridiculous. I

Yeah, this seems like another thing where there can be a nuanced middle ground. I’m fine with extending the netting but I also don’t have to pretend like this is a desperately needed measure to protect the thousands of injured fans a year.
