The idea that a company reacting to something that clearly made a lot of people upset with efforts to placate those poeple is evidence that the company definitely agrees with those people strikes me as kind of bogus. Especially when their efforts to address those concerns are still largely cosmetic. 

Is it really though? I’ve never played a game marketed as a “choice driven” RPG that didn’t decide some things for the player. The entire game still takes place within a narrative framework where you’re expected to do certain things if you want the story to progress. 

I think it’s pretty clear that however they may have misrepresented your romantic choices in the game, they failed at artistically convincing people that the direction they took the story in was satisfying and well executed. 

There’s no question that Ubisoft overpromised the amount of control players would have on the character but to some extent that was mitigated by the fact that you don’t really have any meaningful romances in the game. If Ubisoft had said that occasionally your character can decide to fuck someone before that character…
