Ok. John Franco was better then. Rob Dibble too.

Um, no. First of all I don’t think “fat” is some sort of binary you are or you aren’t thing.

I’m not so sure. For starters, the Leafs are really popular specifically in the sprawl. Beyond that, most people who are in Canada and are predisposed to being hockey fans are already fans of a team. So it’s not just about not being Leafs fans, it’s about convincing Habs or Red Wings fans in Toronto to just bail on

Grungey.

I’ve never understood why there wasn’t more of a push towards Milwaukee. It feels like a natural fit with local rivals and a history of hockey in the state.

Vegas can’t even recapture Vegas’s magic.

So long as it’s done in a way to convey a meaning opposite the literal words being used it hits the dictionary definition of irony. A friendly jab can still be rooted in what you actually think, even if it’s meant endearingly. Right? So if a friend of mine did something kind of dumb and I said “Nice going, dum dum”

What makes a statement ironic, by its textbook definition, isn’t really about the content but whether or not it’s said in a way to convey the opposite of its literal meaning. So, I don’t know, if you had a svelte and lovely friend you could call them a fat bitch ironically if you were on good terms with them I suppose

Smith was never the best reliever of his time. The best reliever of the early 80's was probably Dan Quisenberry. The best reliever of the late 80's and early 90's was Dennis Eckersley.

Jesus is helping Drew. God still hates the Vikings.

But that’s the whole point of WAR. It states your value relative to your contemporaries and factors in the conditions of the game. What you’re seeing there with McGinnity is that his numbers there are a product of his time and so can’t just simply be compared in raw numbers to Nola. That’s why it’s useful to compare gu

Saying ironic racism is still racism is saying that someone’s intent doesn’t actually matter if what they’re putting into the world is still racist shit. It’s saying that the harm caused by, say, racist language is not magically undone if a white person is only doing it to “be funny”.

That right there is Jesus using his Jesus-powers for Drew.

Just FYI you wrote “controversial” where you clearly meant “fucking moronic”.

Pete Rose is 2nd all time in doubles but sure.

No dummy, the central point is that Scott Boras isn’t a bad guy for trying to get money for his clients.

The only group I put him in there is “guys I liked watching play baseball” but sure.

It really says something remarkable when i didn’t even mention the guy they had who hit 600 career HR and went into the Hall.

I said this in the other HOF article but the only problem with that is that there is no “Story of Baseball” or whatever. Baseball is a different thing to different people and players, and their relevance to a particular story, depends on the when and the where of where you are. The story of baseball is very different
