Sorry, but no. The left lane law specifically prohibits you from using the left lane if you are holding up ANY traffic. It never says “overtaking” or “passing.” It says to drive in the right-hand lane if you’re traveling slower than traffic. If there’s someone behind you, you’re impeding traffic. MOVE OVER.

Just to clarify, it doesn’t matter if you’re doing 56 mph, or 87 mph. Don’t cruise in the passing lane.
