It’s not so much over-analysis as it is trying to impose some kind of moral framework. It shouldn’t matter one iota whether Larry David is the biggest dick on any given episode of Curb; it’s played out that way numerous times in past episodes with hilarious results.

I disagree pretty vehemently and I hate this 2017 neediness for everyone to be a good guy - LD has always walked around as though he were above social niceties; he is *the* classic example of a rich, entitled, middle-aged (ok, that’s a bit generous) white man - to tone that down at this stage of the show’s run would

Agreed; True was never cool, not even ironically - Spandau Ballet were a blight on popular music.

oooh, good nom, that song is indeed torturous.

It’s an epic meditation on intangibility ... also, it is shite.

Billy Joel is insufferable; can clearly write a tune and a lyric, yet everything I have ever heard from him makes me vaguely nauseous ..

I dunno; I got a certain morbid fascination from the Shaggs efforts at one point; to me it’s a lot more interesting than your run-of-the-mill lazy, boring bad songs; those poor girls just got it *so* wrong that it’s somewhat interesting to me ..

I hated it when it dropped and time has done nothing to soften my extreme distaste for ‘We Built This City’ - *comfortably* among the most annoying, horrid songs I have had the misfortune of hearing, to me, that song was the very apex of shitty 80's music*

* I have love for certain 80's music, but there was tons of

Kraftwerk would’ve at least made ‘True’ somewhat interesting - as it stands, Spandau Ballet are a barnacle on the arse of popular music, just pox.

sad that his two daughters will have their illusions about their father shattered.

they both seem cool; Adal can be a goddamn smart-ass on the podcast though, really likes to undermine and derail shit, to often very funny results.

My workplace (which is a public hospital, mind you) just closes down for the Monday; no point fighting a losing battle.

Now playing

Australian AV Clubbers may recall Jon Spencer Blues Explosions epic, ott performance on Saturday morning youth-y music program ‘Recovery’ - it’s got it all; crazy Theremin work, destruction of the set, crowd harrassment, false endings and re-starts ... it was a real eye-opener at that time of the morning!

Glad to see Victor get his props in the review; the guy was hilariously incorrigible.
The ‘fun day at the beach’ line got the ep’s biggest laugh from me, and his passive-aggressive way of getting Yanni to accept Shell’s apology suggested he’s the kind of go-to guy Nathan needs on his roster more regularly.

that line got me too; he was pretty worked up by that stage

I don’t think the Uber sleeper cell ep was reviewed on AV; to my mind that was the funniest ep of the season thus far.

let the record show Mr David enjoyed his time in the well.

great to see AV continuing it’s coverage of Nathan For You.

agreed - Children of Men had the same kind of impact on me as an adult as did seeing 2001, Star Wars, Close Encounters and Blade Runner as a kid; I had a wonderful experience watching it in that I just stumbled onto it late one night on tv; I had no preconceptions and it proceeded to draw me in within approx 1 minute.

needed more Repo Man (and Gattaca as mentioned downthreeead) but it was a good stab ..
