love Jingles.

yes and no.

they’re not particularly successful in a winning-sense, more that they have hordes and hordes of bogan supporters ..

bang on heygeronimo, I rated the contested mark above the run too; and you’re right, Cox’s awareness - and audacity at taking his first run/bounce at AFL level - was the most impressive thing about the 2nd highlight.

no.

yup he’s a big boy alright; has good athleticism for his height and has picked up the game really well.

don’t see many Rugby highlights on Deadspin, do ya?

the game in the clip was actually at Princes Park.

the only one saying it is a hard skill to execute is the writer of the article - I think the play only garnered some attention as it was Cox’s first opportunity to execute a bounce and no-one was sure as to whether he’d be able to pull it off in the heat of the moment - every player in the comp can do it, it’s no big

AFL is a far more skillful game than Rugby, which has all the nuance and skill of a game of Hungry Hungry Hippos ..

I reckon it’d be tougher to execute that skill with a gridiron ball than with an AFL footy ..

This is the correct response.

Ridiculous comment; AFL is the 4th most supported sporting league in the *world* - you’re obviously a Rugby League or Union fan, sports that get but a fraction of the support that AFL receives.

Matthew Richardson refutes that comment.

There are usually one or two players on each team whose height exceeds 200cm.

1 million a year is considered big big bucks.

agreed; not the toughest skill to learn - take nothing away from Mason Cox though, his transition to AFL has been pretty impressive.

firstly; Australian *Rules*, not Australian Rugby; two different sports.

ha; I was at that game, think it was 1985; degenerated into sheer violence in the 2nd half, culminating in Leigh Mathews’ infamous king hit on Neville Bruns resulting in a badly broken jaw. not a pleasant afternoon.

exactly, it’s the kind of skill that you can learn in a day - the more impressive aspect of Cox’s transition to AFL has been his ability to take a contested mark, he’s been very handy for Collingwood in that regard.
