The backpack has one main compartment that opens with one huge zippered flap. There are also a couple mesh pockets on the flap. The compression straps that n the front help secure a daypack that zips off.

I’ve carried it on several flights. Never had a problem with it fitting in the compartment, even on some smaller prop planes.
