Most of the “garage” shows these days are garbage. Hey we “f0und” a 68 chevelle in a barn just cruising around town — how did nobody see this before! We have 2 weeks to get it done before auction XYZ! (cue SBC, generic paint work, 20 inch chrome rims, maybe some subs in the back).

It actually kinda sucked in front of the screen too. There are better car shows available.

This is an excellent point.  Very few people will pick a $50K family car as their rock crawling vehicle of choice much like most people will not drive their $80K super sedans on the racetrack.  A slightly more rugged version of an SUV is more than enough for those who want to do some driving on the dirt, trail, or…

Frankly, a LSD, skids plates and a bit more ground clearance is all most people need to get a bit more outdoorsy. The target market for the “overlanding look” is people who want to drive on some dirt roads and camp off the grid...... No one buying a timberline is taking it to MOAB and running rock crawling trails.

I see the MachE side-swiped the “moose” during the test, but I’m curious if the vehicle would have sorted itself out if the driver had turned the wheel to continue on his original direction ‘straight’ down the road.

People have been driving sports cars on the street since before there were race tracks to drive them on. Sports car =/= track car.

The big difference is that Jeep owners bolt random crap to their car and just make it worse or look like a poser with the body matching color trim, lifted to the sky Jeep with 40s and enough lights to keep a city going at night.

I could see this as a teaching tool where an instructor takes three students, comfortably seated, and talks them through the track and gives them the basics.  Like a classroom on wheels.  Easy enough to stop and change drivers, and play like drivers ed.
