    Probably not caused by vibrations, but rather by the increased water velocity around the posts (the posts block the flow, and adjacent flow must increase to compensate, lifting sediments off the bottom). Scouring occurs around the posts of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge & Tunnel, in Virginia.
