I suggest this approach is not “making luck”. It is about “not missing the wide positive opportunities in life”. By recognizing and taking advantage of the array of positive opportunities in life, others, possibly with some ego issues, may prefer to refer to you as “lucky” rather than smart.

I appreciate the logical restatement, but I prefer to use my version to avoid the potential for “lack of Preparation and Awareness do not prohibit” implying a subjective negative tone with that choice of words. 

My personal definition is expanded a bit: “Luck occurs when Preparation and Awareness allow Opportunities to be recognized and then Action takes place.”
