I would suggest that this is primarily advice to apply to yourself, and not something to dole out to others - like your wife or girlfriend when she is freaking out.

I usually wash and peel root veggies because they probably were grown in cow manure - maybe I an just old fashioned .
THIS is why I luv Lifehacker!
I have been thru a lot of multi-tools and pocket knives looking for something small and really handy for everyday use. About 2 years ago I bought a Gerber 31-000750 Bear Grylls Compact Multi-Tool on Amazon for about $10, and it has been my go-to favorite ever since. Small size, nice weight, and the most useful…
At least save 10% of your “take home” pay until you have put away enough to cover 6 months or more for unforeseen emergencies. Then you might consider dropping back to saving 5%. Ideally you would keep saving 10%, and put at least half of it into investments (mutual finds ,CDs, bonds, etc.) that will earn compound…
Some newbies to shop tools may not know that to Really Tighten the chuck on a tool (for tougher jobs such as drilling into metal stock) you should tighten the chuck with the key on 3 sides, or at least opposite sides. Having a drill bit or other tool slip inside the chuck is not a good thing.
I’d like to see LH start compiling all these How-To-Do Windows 10 articles on one page very soon so a perplexed user can find what he needs to know on one convenient and trustworthy location. As someone recently pointed out most of it is on the Microsoft website (scattered about in hundreds of esoteric knowledge base…
If only our politicians could think and work so pragmatically in the interests of our country.
Sam Ting - on Amazon for a few bucks less:
Does look cool. But then I’d have to buy all those miniature cars to put in it!
I’m busy right now, but here is a place to start:
You know, Microsoft should be paying Lifehacker and other bloggers for providing all this essential, or useful, user information that MS should be provide as a part of each upgrade.
Also be aware that in doing a traditional-to-Roth IRA conversion, you do have to pay taxes on the (taxable) amount converted, and there can be a 5 year holding period (to avoid IRS penaties) for withdrawing from your “principal contributions” (but not the interest earned) in your traditional IRA. This can get…
This could, hopefully, open the door for the entry of a new, less monoithic, OS that really respects the privacy, preferences, and security of users. It might be a significantly better (faster more efficient) version of an existing OS like Linux , etc., or something totally new that enhances the ever improving Open…
HF doesn’t currently have something like the Stanley with removable bins (which makes it worth buying), but they do have several types of nice fixed bin storage boxes that will keep small parts in place while the lid is closed. They also have a storage box (Item # 90243) with 24 individual containers, each with their…
This is one reason why I am glad there are a couple of Harbor Freight stores nearby. Slowly , but surely, I am getting my lab-shop well organized - and at a reasonable price. http://www.harborfreight.com/tool-storage.h…
FYI: I reently bought this same “Mpow 180 degree” Fisheye lens (alone) for my Android smartphone. It actually is about a 140-150 degree lens. The image does start to blur close to the edges, but it seems to be better than other similar lenses. However, it does make a pretty decent extra wide angle lens. but it is NOT…

Just bought a Bygel utility cart from Ikea for this very purpose purpose. It can hold a lot of stuff and keep it very handy if you have a little extra floor space or an unused corner. 3 levels of shelf storage (possibly 4) plus a handy slide out tray - and it looks decent - for $30.
Of course, now you need a cigar box, not an Altoid tin to hold it. This is more of a BMK (Buy My Kits) than DIY article; the version 2.0 kit costs $40.
