The great thing about mining at Salton sea is that the area cannot get ANY worse. A mine might actually improve it.
The same applied to fracking and look how that took off. Of course it only ramps up when prices get high though.
It’s comparatively harder to extract compared to strip mines though since the tech is still in an alpha phase. There’s a lot of open questions about how it will scale up.
I yeah, of course. the complexity of producing all our own resources would be absolutely tremendous. our planet is almost 100% dependent on global trade. (I would know.... I used to be in supply chain, and it’s messy...) and theres absolutely no way I’d be able to fully summarize it in a jalop comments section.
