It doesn’t. I live in minnesota and have many close friends who go to UMD. The basketball has sucked for years and has very low attendence. The only sport that makes money at the school is its tremendously popular Men’s hockey team which consistently sells out its 7,000 plus seats during the season.

There is a huge hockey rivalry with Canada, of which MN has borne most of the US side on our backs. It’s less like a racist /xenophobic comment and more like a Jets fan calling Pats fans Massholes. We don’t want them rounded up like South Park, we just want our hockey people to get preferential treatment over theirs.…
