Actually, it’s 0.005%. Your point still stands, but the math was a bit off :)

yeah, I hate to sound like a privileged ‘NIMBY’er (and I understand the drawbacks), but the cacophony of the small gasoline engine is not something I’m going to miss
The problem with a generator is it doesn’t generate power. You need fossil fuels to refill it.
If you’re uncomfortable with being outside, then stay inside. Seriously though if it’s dangerously hot don’t go camping.
Agreed. I like to camp at a fairly remote spot and twice now a person has pulled up in their RV and run their generator all night to power fans and lights. COOL
I’m okay with this, I actually hate generators while camping.
If the truck driver isn't going to stop for a car stuck under his trailer, is he going to stop for someone trying to warn him about a car stuck under his trailer?
I lean towards it being the Honda’s fault, but that’s not the most important point. The semi driver is either malicious or incompetent for not noticing the car and pulling over. I can understand something behind the trailer being hard to see, but that car is definitely visible in the mirror. Should lose his CDL.
Car Designer here. The move to globalized standards wont get you that hot hatch they dont sell here. Since europe has mostly adpoted stricter regulations with Pedpro(pedestrian protection), emissions, and sound levels the last decade, it is not about confirming to NA regs. It is just that those segments of vehicles…
I’m wondering if he’d have been hurt much worse in a sturdier vehicle — under these freak circumstances, the cab’s parting company so readily with the part that the train hit might’ve saved him a lot of spinning and dragging.
Is there plenty of room to see a train coming if you are driving from that small access road that is parallel to the tracks and if the train is coming from behind you? Seeing as that is what actually happened. Now if he drove on River Valley Road you’d have a point but... that’s not what happened here unfortunately.
counterpoint....the south end of a northbound mule has intelligent design decisions that focus on functionality.
Do teens in that part of Texas really dress like 45 year old divorced dads who work for a landscaping contractor? The big belt buckle is just precious.
You’re right about the criminal justice system and you’re right that it wouldn’t help this kid or the cyclists he mowed down at all. I’m more interested in the civil suit that follows and kinda hope that bankrupts this family.
In case anyone is curious. The guy in the light green shirt on the left is Dad, the dark green shirt with hands on hips is the 17yo passenger, and the dark green shirt sitting on the bumper of the truck is the 16yo driver.
And the police chief too for dragging his feet and obstruction.
Well written. I deal with lots of young peopel that have been through the criminal justice system and unless change comes from inside them all jail does is make them older and more likely to re-offend.
I genuinely dont know what the best course of action here is.
Can’t wait until the details on the implied links of privilege between the teen and the Waller Police Department come to light. Oh and before some moron yells “cancel culture”, I’d prefer to think of it as “accountability culture.”
I know I am in the minority, but I kind of liked the cut to black. In this case I think it was fine to lave it up to the audience to decide what happens next.
