As a concept artist, I think asking that question consistently is really empowering, actually, as long as it’s responded to appropriately. It’s not a “can we fit a female/nonbinary/minority into this character?” sort of thing, it should be moreso “is this character better as something other than a while, straight…
I think there have been so many FF games that it’s honestly hard to pin point what makes an FF game. Is it the turn based? The drama? The love story? The steampunk? The castles? The motorbikes? The swords?The magic? The guns? Maybe it’s all of them.
I think it’s one of the biggest problem in today’s cultural creation. May it be movies, comics, games and so on, the companies creating those did all they can to make it more than what it is, they shaped into classics, they cultivated people’s nostalgia.
He’s right. The company is taking a huge risk to reinvigorate the series. They have to though, because what was happening before wasn’t working. Maybe a little, but more change is needed.. There’s so much competition out there nowadays
