The ending with death of Lana and the violent ending of Barry and the dobermans didn't seem meaningless to me. It just reinforced that this is Archer's dreamscape. His odd rant about how no person could survive being shot seven times I thought was great way to leave the ending ambiguous, as to Archer's live-or-dead

I am surprised that the reviewer missed that the whole orchid house scene with the family patriarch sleeping in a wheelchair was a reference to The Big Sleep (1946).
