I think it is a shame you won’t write the same thing about every volume manufacturer doing exactly this. First off let me say that I think it’s a shame that the base Model 3 is now over $40k. And especially that the base Model Y was discontinued earlier this year so now that starts at $55k.

did... did you watch the video? they list some very specific reasons why they went with the SSDs they chose, and the possible consequences of going with an off the shelf replacement. And then showed you how to do it all anyway.

I felt sympathy for the California company when I found they had their pipeline cut by an anchor. Then I found they sat on alarms for 3 hours before shutting off the pumps and that sympathy drained away. Sigh.

The “Don’t do this at home” crap is definitely a requirement from the laywers/business but the fact that this video even got made and they literally included the line, “You have every right to open it up and do what you want,” in that video is a huge step forward.
