Serious question: How do you not just get sick of your car keeping it for that long? Keeping a car for more than a few years would be boring as hell (for me). I only buy used so the only pain is the registration tax, but other than that there’s no way I could keep a car for 400k miles.

Freaking amazing. It’s awful if someone died in this incident, but the better question to ask is why isn’t everyone dead? It’s because commercial aviation is subject to fairly rigorous government oversight and a culture of actually solving problems, as opposed to, say, the petroleum & mineral extraction industries.
