Yes, that’s the kind of show I thought this was, from the first episode or two. Lots of character, less adventure. It makes a nice companion piece to the “fireworks factory” shows that coexist in the ST universe.

They had no lines in the pilot; I was hoping.

What the review really doesn’t spend enough time on is that the show just isn’t that great. It’s slow paced and then very briefly well paced and then slow again; it oscillates between “no dude this is real it’s real it’s so REAL” and grindhouse in a way that made me uncomfortable, it’s got few if any engaging…
