Studio exec: “Well, that Clerks thing worked out. Here are the keys to the movie-making machine. What’s next?”
Kevin: “Mallrats.”
His films are obvious and sophomoric (not even good sophomoric!) and he was never really a talented film maker, even though he made lots of movies.
On the positive side

This has been known to dial out, also. (And it’s SEXY.)

Rip Taylor died in 2019.

Will Smith gets to watch from home next year as Chris Rock hands out the Best Actress Oscar.

Oh, good......a slideshow.

Speaking of Will Smith, did anyone notice Miguelito Loveless and James West both won Oscars this year?

Read this past week’s Hollywood Reporter “Brutally Honest Oscar Ballots” by anonymous Academy voters and you’ll see the “it’s their turn” thing is still deeply ingrained in the choice calculus. Even with a weak filmography like Will Smith’s.

March is the perfect month.....in the Southern Hemisphere!

If you don’t like U2 I recommend the first 15min of David Guggenheim’s Making of ‘Achtung Baby’ doc “From The Sky Down”. They self-flagellate themselves for being clueless dorks and thinking anybody would actually want to watch them “discover” American roots music in ‘Rattle and Hum’. A refreshingly blunt

One would think that Michelle Yeoh being in the movie would remind them of that!

Since when is a Bond film an “American production”? This is as close to Pop Culture 101 as an entertainment writer can get.

“Campy and lighter than other Marvel joints”? The only Marvel joints before 2003's Daredevil were 2 Blades, an X-Men, and a Spider-Man.
As for the Daredevil show’s violence, my wife got in 2 eps and said “I’m done. Too much.” The second season is absolutely brutal.

What’s weird is for most of the past 7 years my comments got approved pretty quick. Usually the next day. But now it’s taking longer and longer.
Although I found a few other pendings from several years ago, too. Ugh.

I would comment on this but I still have 2 pending comments on other articles. One from this past week and one from several weeks ago.
If someone could get this all straight so I could be part of the discussion in real time I’d be very happy.
P.S. And all the AVClub Kinja comment help links are dead.
P.P.S. I just

General consensus is that you haven’t, you know, reviewed the movie. Two more paragraphs, please. Or no recess.

Don’t forget, Lucas had ILM produce 3 more FX shots after the movie had already premiered on 70mm, but before the 35mm engagements. The shots help clarify the spacial relationship of Lando/Chewie on the Falcon relative to Luke/Leia on the medical frigate. 3 FX shots plus the score had to get adjusted, and it all had

I plowed though S2 last week. The back half of the season redeemed itself somewhat. At least I wasn’t fast-forwarding though scenes anymore.
S3 so far is really good, and astonishingly grim. Yeesh. Also, wished I known to watch The Defenders before it.

Hang in there, tiger!
