This is interesting as I did see the movie when it came out in 1984 and loved it. I didn't have much trouble understanding it, to be honest, and the fact I was high when I saw it only added to the overall paranoid, scheming tone of the film (everyone whispering and all…"not a single drop of rain on Arrakis"…lol).
