Japanese work culture is vastly different from every other country. It’s probably the only country I know where people will work through nature disasters. Whether it’s earthquake or typhoon, people will still go to and be at work.

There is usually a notice running on the signage board at the station if the train/subway is even 1 min late. They don’t apologize if the problem is caused by nature or if someone jumped the track. (track jumping is a regular thing in japan. I’ve seen where 3 happens on the same day.)

Given they are deliberately making them the old method, I don’t know that they would bother with using more modern rubber technology, and they claim to be period correct. However they don’t exactly explain why they say it’s period correct.

Sounds great to me! Alone in my apartment with my robot sex... taking humanity to new heights...

The car was tested on period correct replica Bias ply tires supplied by Coker Tire

No way. Chicago is way more friendly than NYC. If someone is rude in Chicago i am alway surprised and assume they are having a bad day.

Well, Rampage monsters are supposed to be mutated humans, so they already got that wrong.

I don’t see how buying the game but not spending a cent on microtransactions contributes to the problem. The game and microtransactions are seperate purchases that companies can track. Hypothetically speaking if a million people purchased the game but no microtransactions were purchased don’t you think companies would

New age Japan is what the US needs to strive to be

Yep, trains suck in NYC no question there. All the other stuff, yeah I don’t think so. I’ve lived in NYC as well as others (Boston, Buffalo, St Paul, Dallas) and NYC is probably more interesting than all the others combined, every city has its shitty aspects. The people and attitudes takes some time getting used to

I was in Japan last year. The train back to the airport at the end of my trip was 10 MINUTES LATE leaving Tokyo Station. Nobody apologized. In fact, nobody looked too concerned other than us puzzled foreigners.

Meh, who needs economic growth when your population is falling?

new york, much like chicago, is just one big whole foods: more expensive than it should be, cramped, you’re always in someone’s way, and everyone is rude

What we need to do is get bombed back to the stone-age so we can rebuild our infrastruutre.

You want Japanese-style management lording over NY unions?

Yeah, 25 years of economic stagnation after the bubble 80s is not an enviable situation.

It’s important to remember that most of these regional commuter systems in Japan are owned by companies which can develop real estate around their stations. That means apartments, department stores, office space, etc. Japan is built around trains like the U.S. is built around cars. In any sufficiently large Japanese

The customer is always right, unless they own a Toyota with a major defect, then it’s somehow the customers fault.

I dont think city-dwelling americans would survive in japan. 20 hour days, sleeping at work, little upward mobility, its basically a sexist ethno-state with little in the way of progressive change and the fish based diet would kill anyone raised on a diet of chicken tenders

Sorry to say, but this apology is more of humble brag. Works extremely well in marketing as well. It is similar in strategy to recall a perfectly safe product that is misused by some extremely dumb individual. Shows that the company cares about the customers even the extremely dumb individuals and it is usually so odd
