sure — especially with actors like Gary Cole with such long resumes, there will be unintended connections but the stapler bit made me wonder

in "Mommy Meyer," she sees some old friends … wasn't it established she was a lawyer there?

Is the stapler and having "the Eagle" put in some basement room somewhere sort of a homage to Office Space (which co-starred Gary Cole)?

The new Secret Service agent was a nice bit.

The gay subtext was there before — Russell implied Timmy was gay but it was suggested Russell was the one that needed Timmy & had some sort of connection with him. And, been a few years now, but still annoyed they ignored Timmy WAS ALREADY A CITIZEN … total Russell move to ignore that. It was the subject of a whole

Anyway, Tom James would be only "acting" President until Congress gets around to agree to one & Congress only gets to choose from the top three in the electoral votes (Meyer and the other guy) in so doing. He would probably not even have the power to pick a veep in that situation — he himself would be veep, just

A bit of searching and I found that the VP actually now is considered part of the Cabinet — https://www.whitehouse.gov/… —- but it is true that "no person holding any office under the United States, shall be a member of either house during his continuance in office."

An argument can be made against it since the VP presides over the Senate, so has a sort of mixed role that is executive/legislative. And, members of the legislature can't be members of Cabinet. [ETA: Constitution says this explicitly.] For instance, the VP would have the tie-breaker if some treasury bill was up and he

Sons are often named after the father. Not really a big deal.

more like a 180 degree.

The veep as member of the Cabinet (I think it's legal) is an intriguing thought.

I agree with the "unsatisfyingly tidy" part though it does help explain why Bill Erickson was not made campaign manager — behind the scenes, he was set up for the fall some time back. Selena's ability to lie underlines no matter the level of incompetency here, these people have talents to thrive in D.C.

Did anyone watch John Oliver? A black CNN reporter in a clip looked just like Richard.

The article takes the logic of the episode too seriously — I liked it. The characters are overall great here from the sick President, Amy having fun & Tom James becoming a bit more "House" than the guy he was before. Fozzy Bear with heroin? Bitches? Lol. Yah, there are a few question marks but the set up to the next

There were some nice touches to this episode but it seemed somewhat dull. The touches show the skill of the show. Still, hopefully the next one has more bite.

I got that but not totally sure we have the full story. The teaser for next episode, e.g., has him being popular with the public. She might also see him as threatening for that reason. Is he related to "Labor Day" also comes to mind.

"You are the worst thing that has happened to this country since food in buckets and maybe slavery."

I see what you did there.

it sets up for future episodes … it's like the middle portion of a trilogy

I agree that the episode was a bit rough for the reasons offered (Bill not being around is particularly strange — he was set up as a big threat to Amy after all).
